My review
Unguarded is a really interesting read. I found that the story moved at a great pace and had plenty of twists to keep the reader entertained. The use of the various worlds fitted together well and I enjoyed how Ashley wove it all together. Giving me Angels, Daemons and Vampires (Shifters, fae - well you get the idea!) combined with a gripping story makes me a happy girl. A Guardian Angel falling in love with a vampire is a forbidden love, always a fantastic start to any story, there is so much scope of where events could go.
Selene is a guardian angel, in love and a thoroughly
interesting character. I found her to be genuine and believable because she was
a little flawed. As a guardian angel her priority, or should that be the point of her existence, is her charge Caitlyn, nothing and no one should be more important. I loved the idea that the guardian angels of all the characters were interacting with each other and with the daemons, an interesting take which I don't recall seeing before.
Selene, however, has fallen in love with a vampire and been stripped of her chance to become an archangel, this does not stop her wanting to rescue her love though. True love it seems means sacrifice, she accepts this and still gives everything her all.
The central male characters Cole, Selene's love and Luke are an interesting contrast to each other. There were things I liked and disliked about both characters which I believe shows the strength of Ashley's storytelling.
I very much enjoyed Unguarded and would recommend it to readers who like their angels and daemons!
